Flint Anthropology Gallery opened September 2006 is a 900 square-foot exhibit space designed for changing, collection-based exhibits that includes an infrastructure for audio/visual components. The first exhibit installed in the space, By Native Hands, includes 90+ Great Lakes Indian artifacts from the museum’s collection.
Five display cases providing humidity-controlled environments incorporate artifact-friendly LED lighting. Five video monitors are arranged to correspond with the cases.
A five-section program helps visitors view the exhibit display case by display case. Each “chapter” features a display case and an adjacent video monitor. Programmed lighting highlights various artifacts in synchronization with the action on the screen. Directional or environmental sound is delivered by the ten-speaker audio system.
Hutchinson Studios provided design and project management services to implement the project.
